Stevie was born in November of 2011. She was born with her head tilted to one side which was noticeable days after birth. I did not expect her to live long, and each day was happily surprised to see her not only alive, but growing and developing nicely. At about three weeks old all the other babies in her litter began to jump out of the nesting box. Stevie was unable to jump out of the box because of her tilted head. She spun around and around in the box for hours trying to get out of the box like the other bunnies. Not only was I concerned that she would not be nursed by the mother bunny since all the babies were out of the box and following the mother around, but I was also sure she would freeze without the warmth of the other babies. After hours and hours of watching her desperately spin in circles in an effort to get out of the box, I decided to take her out and watch and see what would happen. When I went out to check on her an hour or so later I found her laying there, almost dead. The other babies had dumped their water bowl on Stevie and then trampled her. She was laying there almost frozen. I brought her in the house to try to comfort her the best I could until she passed. She looked past the point of recovery. Soon, I noticed that she was starting to move. I took a blow dryer and gently began to warm Stevie. She slowly began to get up and start hopping around! By the time I was done she was hopping all over the place! I put her in a basket with a towel for over night. Despite her quick recovery I did not expect her to make it through the night. When I woke up the next morning I was surprised to see her doing extremely well! I bought some kitten formula and tried to feed her...she drank several bottles full! I continued to bottle feed her and she continued to grow and develop. I have never had a rabbit live without the mother like Stevie did! She is my little miracle bunny! She is now a little over a year old and is almost completely better! She can now hold her head almost completely straight. She follows me everywhere! I let her hop around our 9 acre yard and she always stays close to me and never tries to run away. Stevie inspired me to start my Gifted to Gifted program for my rabbitry. She is the sweetest bunny ever!
